The Story Behind Every Woolly Wonders Baby Piece

A single donated beanie changed the direction of a family. This is that story.

Woolly Wonders started in a hospital NICU. Our son was born early and spent his first days fighting to grow stronger. A nurse wrapped him in a soft hand-knit beanie.

We later learned it wasn't from the hospital. It was donated by a stranger who never met us. That single small act of kindness became the seed of a business.

The Return Visit

Every year on his birthday, we return to that hospital and donate a bag of handmade baby clothes. Ten years in, we've donated close to a thousand pieces.

Reconnecting With Artisans

In 2018, on a trip back to India, we reconnected with families we grew up around — skilled artisan knitters whose craft was generations old but whose work was being undercut by machine-made imports. They had the skill but not the market.

The Bridge

Woolly Wonders exists to connect those artisan families to families around the world who want beautifully made, safe, long-lasting pieces for their own babies. Every piece you buy funds sustainable work for a family that otherwise wouldn't have it — and 100% of a hospital donation quota for every month of sales.

What That Means For You

Every Woolly Wonders piece you own has a backstory. It was made by a person, by hand, over hours. That person's name is tied to the piece on our side. And a portion of every sale goes back to the hospital that started this.

The bottom line

We believe small, handmade things carry more weight than mass-produced ones. Ten years of evidence has only made us more sure of it.
